A Power User’s Introduction to jQuery Awesomeness in SharePoint
Level: 100
Track: IT Pro, Developer, End-User
Okay, we get it. You’re not a developer, but there are so many cool things you can do with jQuery and JavaScript in SharePoint! Why should you or your organization be left out?
Maybe you found that script on that blog that you copy and pasted and just can’t get to work. It looks so easy though.
Why should developers have all the fun?

In this session, learn how you, a non-developer can take advantage of some of the awesomeness that is client side scripting in SharePoint. You’ll learn:

- How to use some plug and play scripts on the internet to create tabbed web parts, customize SharePoint forms and more
- Do’s and don’ts that will help you figure out why that script isn’t working on your site
- What's possible and open the doors to creating a better user experience in SharePoint, whether you are On-Premises or in the cloud

Exploring SharePoint 2013 REST Web Services
Level: 200
Track: IT Pro, Developer
Audience: Developers, Power Users (who know some JavaScript), Administrators (who know some PowerShell)
Each version of SharePoint has expanded the collection of web services to let the developer with any kind of tools, .Net, Java, etc., to access and update SharePoint content. Now professional developers using .Net, Java and other tools, and also “power users” using JavaScript in web parts and master pages, can get, create and update SharePoint content.

- What is REST?
- How to use REST with SharePoint
- What’s available via REST
- How to “play with REST” from the browser’s developer tools
- How to select and filter data
- Search SharePoint via REST!
- Using Excel Services via REST
- Adding and Deleting content via REST
- Calling REST from JavaScript, from PowerShell and from C#

SharePoint Online has been undergoing a lot of change over the last year. Not only for the user experience but also as a supporting component for a lot of other Office 365 services. This session will cover at a high level, or it would take numerous days, each of those services and things to consider as an administrator and things to understand as a user interacting with these services.

Put Your Datasheet View in beast-mode!
Level: 100
Track: Developer
The SharePoint List Datasheet View is a powerful tool for making mass edits on multiple list items, it's like an in-browser spreadsheet for lists. What would be really nice is to "user-proof" the Datasheet View, perhaps disable the "add column" feature, and make certain columns read-only, or hide certain columns on the fly, or automatically apply filters, or validation… You can! The Datasheet View uses the SP.jsGrid library which is accessbible through javascript. SP.jsGrid and it's features are poorly documented (thanks MicroSoft), so I've scoured the inter-webs to discover all the tantric mysteries of taking programatic control over the Datasheet View and bending it to do my will. This discussion is targeted for developers who are comfortable with javascript, but you don’t have to be an expert, we'll work through examples starting with the basics.

Some Quick Wins to Jump Start Your SharePoint Implementation
Level: 100
Track: IT Pro
The determination of success vs failure for all projects is whether or not what you have implemented is being utilized by the users. Better well known as User Adoption!! However, many wonder what can I do to make sure I’m giving the users what they want, what they didn’t know they needed but will make their job easier and something I like to call the “Plus A Little” and\or the WOW Factor! Quick wins are identified as things that are quick to do, take very little time to implement (low cost), and have a HUGE impact within the organization. In this session we are going to explore & build out different features within your SharePoint (O365 & OnPrem) environment that will make your SharePoint implementation the Rock Star of all projects ever implemented.

The Shared Responsibility of Information Security in Office 365
Level: 100
Track: IT Pro, Business
There is no denying that Office 365 can make us highly productive, sharing and collaborating with coworkers, partners and clients. But, does it take care of our security and compliance issues? Is our data secure in Office 365? Yes, and no. The security of our information in Office 365 is a shared responsibility between Microsoft (the cloud provider) and us (the customers). Office 365 is a secure platform, but to truly secure our data we must make effective use of the security capabilities and features provided within the platform. We must also have strong information governance structures in place to control how information is shared and accessed through the platform. This session will provide a detailed review of the Office 365 Security and Compliance Center, including how to use the built in capabilities for alerts, data loss prevention policies, activity audit logs, advanced security management and customer lockbox. We'll also review recommended information governance and security practices based on customer experiences to help you effectively secure your information in Office 365 and uphold your end of the shared responsibility.

The Virtual office with SharePoint, Microsoft Office 365, and Hololens
Level: 100
Track: Developer, End-User, Business
Holographic mixed reality via the Microsoft HoloLens has the potential to transform the way we interact with technology. Everyone has seen this concept popularized in various movies where the user can interact with a very sophisticated display using an array of natural gestures, voice commands and 3D holographic interfaces. Combining this interface with SharePoint and Office 365’s collaboration and content management capabilities open up some interesting possibilities for the way we access and process information in a virtual reality world. In this demonstration, we will be exploring proof of concepts for interacting with information, the physical environment, and each other using a natural, 3 dimensional, holographic interface. Participants will be able to view the interface via projector, listen to discussion around the technology and implementation from a developer’s point of view and will be able to physically try the HoloLens interface demo.

Using REST Web Services from SharePoint Designer 2013 Workflows
Level: 200
Track: Developer, End-User
When you first looked at 2013 workflows you probably wondered why they took away so many of the 2010 Actions. In exchange they gave you access to REST web service calls, but did not tell you too much about them. While a little more difficult to setup, REST calls open up far more of SharePoint than you could have ever touched with 2010 Actions. In this session we will look at REST calls to create items, lists, and sites, perform security administration, get lists of lists and lists of sites, and much more. Attend this session and I’ll give you a REST testing tool I’ve created that you can add to a SharePoint page and explore REST outside of a workflow.

This session applies to SharePoint 2013, 2016 and SharePoint Online / Office 365.
