The SharePoint Business Analyst
Documents:
SharePointBusinessAnalyst.pptx
Level: 200
Track: End-User, Business
The session for the SharePoint guy or gal who doesn't quite fit in anywhere else in the world of SharePoint. You may work with end users, manage sites, help others or meet with users discussing their business needs and documenting how to build a SharePoint project that fulfills their needs. Perhaps you have to test, assist others with figuring out what they want from SharePoint or help manage a project move along and coordinate everything happening among all stakeholders. Requirements, improvements, architecting, possibilities, UAT, support, governance, security, basic administration, support and power-user development all seem to fall into this new "job title" that is one step short of a "SharePoint jack of all trades". After working with SharePoint for over 10 years, I am happy to share a remarkable accumulation of tips that will give you a jump start in making every project SharePoint project or site you work on a success.

Creating a SharePoint Permission Architecture
Level: 100
Track: IT Pro, End-User, Business
Before you begin building your environment in SharePoint, you should have a very good understanding of who will be using it, the roles and the responsibilities. Scott will show you how to craft the permission architecture that will correspond to your site and information architecture to have as light of a management burden as possible. He will also show you how to create workarounds for managing complex permissions, how to document this architecture, and what do to for existing environments that have gotten ugly. Very few people have the luxury of starting over from scratch, so that is the bigger problem to tackle.

Building Well Performing, Highly Available, and Resilient Azure Solutions for Office 365
Level: 200
Track: Developer
Microsoft Azure is a natural fit for building enhanced solutions for Office 365 but simply deploying your application to Azure does not necessarily ensure that the application will always be available and perform well. In this session we'll be making use of a very common application architecture using Azure Traffic Manager, Azure API Apps, Storage Queues, and Cosmos DB to build a highly resilient API that can both consume and provide data to Office 365 application and components. We'll cover how to monitor and ensure your application can remain available despite data center failures, regional failures, or even application deployment failures. Lastly we'll discuss the new roll of serverless in modern applications.

Modern UI Extensions with the SharePoint Framework – Command Sets, Application and Field Customizers
Level: 100
Track: Developer
Microsoft has extended the SharePoint Framework from the initial release of introducing client-side web parts to provide ways to extend the user experience. These new additions enable customizations available in previous development model options in SharePoint. In this session you will learn about command sets (what you knew as custom actions), field customizers (what you knew as JSLink) and application customizers (which are similar to what you knew as delegate controls). You will see how to use the SharePoint Framework to not just deploy client-side web parts, but also extend the SharePoint user experience with these new capabilities!
SharePoint Development - Where are We and Where are We Going?

Track: IT Pro, Developer, End-User, Business
If you have been doing SharePoint development for a few years or for many years, you know the story and guidance changes every so often. Going back to the beginning of SharePoint in early 2000's, developers have been told to do things differently roughly four different times, even as recently as last year with the SharePoint Framework! How do you make sense of this? How do you best align yourself and skillset to be as marketable, future-proof or future-ready as possible? Using Your On-prem Data in a Cloud World
Level: 200
Track: IT Pro, Developer
Microsoft Power BI, Flow, and PowerApps are powerful cloud tools that can take your on-premises data to new heights. Using your data where it is now gives you the ability to invest in improving processes, instead of focusing on a data migration strategy.
In this session, we will discover the benefits of using the cloud tools, how those benefits translate to being on-premises, and how we can use the data in Office 365 as well. We will setup a data gateway, connect to on-premises data sources, and use that data in Office 365 and SharePoint Server 2016.

Business Process Automation: Advanced Workflow Solutions for SharePoint
Level: 200
Track: IT Pro, End-User, Business
SharePoint ships with several workflows designed to address common business scenarios such as document approval, document feedback, and collecting digital signatures. Although the predefined workflows can be customized to meet different organizational requirements, the need to develop workflows for unique organizational business challenges still exists. In this advanced session, you will learn about creating custom workflows using SharePoint Designer and Microsoft Flow.
Using real world examples, we will demonstrate how to design workflow solutions to meet the ever-changing business requirements faced by today’s professionals. We'll break down the out-of-the-box workflows and discuss how to customize them to meet your requirements. We'll also cover how to create dynamic workflows from scratch, such as using SharePoint data for variables in the workflow model, how to assign a task or start a task process with users, how to create and apply an Initiation Form for manually declared workflows, and how to declare local variables in a workflow instance. We'll also cover best practices for workflow management.
Finally, this session will compare and contrast custom workflows built in SharePoint Designer with workflows in Microsoft Flow.

Introduction to Serverless Computing with Azure Functional Apps
Level: 200
Track: Developer
Serverless computing came into lime light recently and along with all the excitement is a lot of questions. Of course there will always be servers, be it in the cloud or in your own datacenter. Serverless computing merely adds another layer of abstraction atop cloud infrastructure, so developers no longer need to worry about servers, including virtual ones in the cloud. Heavy code demo based session attempts to answer some of the questions using one of Microsoft's recent additions to it's cloud offering, Azure Functions, aka Functional Apps.

Powerful Enterprise Apps for SharePoint and Office 365 with no code Provider Hosted Applications
Level: 100
Track: IT Pro, End-User, Business
With CorasWorks, you can build and deploy solutions for SharePoint and Office 365 faster, easier, and more cost effectively. We deliver rapid value that allows you to increase the ROI of your SharePoint or Office 365 investment.
Since 2003, CorasWorks has been providing applications on Microsoft SharePoint. As SharePoint has evolved over the years—and with the advent and growth of Office 365—CorasWorks has evolved, too.
We now focus on provider-hosted apps, which is the recommended method for building and using apps for SharePoint and Office 365. Basically, you build apps “outside” of SharePoint/O365 and then “embed” them into your SharePoint/O365 interface. You already have users in SharePoint/O365 and the goal is to keep them there. Plus, you can leverage a more powerful set of tools when building the apps than if you built them in SharePoint/O365.
Join us for a webcast on Thursday, July 13, at 2pm EDT to learn more about our provider-hosted apps for SharePoint and Office 365, including:
What is a provider-hosted app
How you can integrate your SharePoint and Office 365 data and documents into the apps
Using our rapid solution delivery platform to build your own provider-hosted apps
Using our pre-built provider-hosted apps, like CorasManage for your PMO
