How to do everything in SharePoint with PowerShell
Level: 300
Track: IT Pro
Although PowerShell was introduced in SharePoint 2010 as a replacement of its native administration tools, only SharePoint 2013 is fully opening the potential to administrate the system using the common command line tool for all Windows based servers. PowerShell for SharePoint allows not only to administrate the portal using its more than 750 native cmdlets, but it also lets create new ones using Visual Studio, the Microsoft development environment. In this session we will examine the use of PowerShell for installing, configuring and managing a SharePoint environment; how we can use it for the normal day-to-day maintenance tasks; and, finally, how we can extend PowerShell to cover functionality that is not present by default.

Running Provider Hosted Apps On-Premises
Level: 300
Track: IT Pro
Setting up your on-premises SharePoint farm to run SharePoint Hosted apps only involves battling with the network admins to get your dedicated app domain and running a bit of PowerShell to get your service applications ready. Once you've fought that fight you can lean back and let your users download and run apps from the SharePoint store or even upload apps that a developer created for you. All is good, until the inevitable day arrives that they want to use Provider Hosted apps. Why? Because they're cool: you can run your app on any platform, use any fancy framework you like and use whatever language you want. Developers like that kind of freedom.
This session will show you how to prepare your on-premises SharePoint 2013 farm to run Provider Hosted apps.

SharePoint Governance Myth-busting
Level: 100
Track: Business
SharePoint governance starts with a 600-page document. In our 30-person company, we need a 40-person SharePoint Governance committee. Nobody can determine why a housekeeper has access to that document.
You’ve heard this already? We most certainly have. In this session, Toni and Adis are busting such myths by showing a practical and workable approach to SharePoint governance in small and large enterprises. This session is not product-specific, it is process specific: We will talk about setting policies, what makes sense, and what doesn’t. But most important, we will talk about processes for implementing these policies, all based on real-life use cases, where no one reads 600-page documents.
